Anna Celeste Watson (BA: Fine Art)
Creative Ethical Web Designer
I am Anna Celeste Watson, a creative Web Designer with over 12 years professional experience and a degree in Fine Art (Painting). I have designed over 100 completely bespoke websites (I have lost count now!) and often work with my Partner - Illustrator Stu Jones.
I aim to create easy to use, beautiful and engaging websites of an exceptionally high quality that your company will be proud to promote. I believe that my work speaks for itself, so a selection of my most recent and favourite projects are showcased in my online Portfolio.
I am also committed to supporting more ethical, eco-friendly, sustainable, charity and community projects where possible.
A Personal Touch
I work from my home office with my Partner Illustrator Stu Jones in a 300 year old stone cottage in the town centre of Dorchester, Dorset, which means I have fewer overheads and can afford to charge less than a larger design agency, and dedicate more time to all my projects. I strongly believe that good design and creativity is worth investing in, but always offer honest and flexible pricing with no hidden costs.
As an independent designer, I am able to work with my clients right from the initial ideas and planning stage, to the concept design and final artwork, right through to full project completion, so unlike most web agencies, you get to work directly with the person who is actually designing your site and be part of the creative process. In my experience, far greater results are achieved when I work directly with my own clients in this way, so I can really take the time to fully understand your exact requirements and be there to update or develop your site if and when needed for the foreseeable future.
I enjoy working on a diverse range of projects from simple micro-sites to large Content Management Systems (CMS) and online shopping sites - for all kinds of industries including the creative, corporate and charity sectors. I often work with individuals, family businesses and small to medium enterprises, but also work on large sites for prestigious London blue chip companies on a freelance or sub-contracted basis.
I am passionate about working with clients who care about the quality and integrity of their website as much as I do, which is why I specialise in creative bespoke design that is as unique as your company is.
An Artistic Background
Unlike many Web Designers who come from either a technical or graphical background, I come from a more artistic tradition. After leaving Northbrook College of Art and Design in Worthing Sussex in 1997, I went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Art (Painting) at Wimbledon School of Art London. Whilst studying in London my work developed into the area of Film and Video and I produced short films and video installations for exhibition.
After graduating in 2000 I worked as the Video Editor for Travel TV at Teddington Studios where I edited corporate videos, broadcast programmes for Sky Television and streamed video for the web, as well as working on the company's own web site content. Having gained invaluable experience in the New Media industry, I decided to learn web design independently by attending day courses and conferences in London.
I moved back to Sussex in 2001 to work as a Freelance Web Designer and also worked as a Web Designer for the web agency Fresh Egg in Worthing for 3 years whilst I continued to build up my business in my spare time. In 2005 after a lot of hard work and late nights, I relocated to Dorchester in Dorset with my partner Stu Jones to work as a Web Designer from my home office where I enjoy the company of our two cats who often hang around my desk! In 2006 I was interviewed as the featured Designer in the popular web magazine WebDesigner.
My Ethical Policy
I am committed to supporting more ethical, eco-friendly, sustainable, charity and community projects, and businesses that specifically promote cruelty-free or alternative living that benefits animals, people and/or the environment.
Since 2010 I have pledged to never knowingly undertake any work for a client or project I believe to be specifically unethical or who are suspected of causing or in any way supporting cruelty, exploitation or damage to people, animals or the planet. This includes products or services that may be linked with animal testing through the supply chain, or the promotion or endorsement of animals used for any entertainment or sport.
I NEVER outsource work to outside the UK and only work with my carefully selected Associates who are based in Dorset and Sussex.
I am also able to help clients put together an Animal Welfare Policy for their business if relevant. Frank & Faith ethical fashion were 'Highly Commended' in the RSPCA Good Business Awards 2011 for the Animal Welfare Policy I encouraged them to publish online, and with the help of my partner's experience in the ethical business sector. In my spare time I run Compassionate Dorset - an animal welfare group which promotes compassionate living through creative projects and fundraising events, and also acts as the local supporter group for the leading farm animal welfare charity Compassion in World Farming which campaigns peacefully to end factory farming and to improve the lives of animals farmed for food.
I offer a 10% Discount to vegetarian or vegan specific projects, or projects that specifically encourage eating less meat.
